Optimization of
embossing processes

Use water cleverly as a multi-talent

Embossing results can be further improved by targeted moisture application before embossing. They become sharper at the edges and the product remains somewhat more voluminous than in conventional processes.

This is because the moisture not only causes the fiber to swell slightly (increasing volume), but also makes it more flexible and supple. As a result, it can follow the embossing more easily and precisely and achieve perfect embossing results with lower contact pressure.

Your advantages at a glance

  • Improved embossing quality
  • Lower embossing pressure (lower maintenance costs)
  • Higher tissue volume
  • Higher tissue weight
  • Less fiber fly

The WEKO fluid application systems (WFA) WEKO-BASIC and WEKO-FLOW[ ](/en/solutions/fluidsupply/weko- flow)with the application unit WEKO-SIGMA guarantee finest dosed water application on the sensitive structure of the tissues. Moisture massively improves layer adhesion, as the water increases the penetration of the previously applied adhesive in each individual layer. With three or more layers, bonding is thus possible without additional knurling.

WEKO-ProTec is an encapsulated liquid application system with suction, which prevents liquids from escaping and at the same time is protected from contamination by its closed form.

WEKO-C trend is a complete turnkey solution that combines all components (electrical, hydraulic and tank) in a closed cabinet. It can therefore be easily integrated into existing plants.
