Can strong ply adhesion and soft handle be combined?

When joining layers with WEKO, the individual paper layers are glued together with a defined small amount of liquid glue. The combination of several layers during embossing forms the multi-layer hygienic paper tissue. Water-based adhesive is suitable for the WEKO rotor spray application. Its finely dispersed micro-droplets spread evenly and work perfectly on sensitive surfaces without damaging the material.

WEKO WaterBond is a booster for the layer bonding process. With three or more layers, bonding is possible without additional knurling. This makes the embossing design very flexible and cost-saving, as no additional knurling tool is required. Spraying on a defined amount of water massively improves the layer adhesion, as the water increases the penetration of the previously applied adhesive in each individual layer. The swelling properties of the fibers also enable improvements in the dimensions, bulk and volume of the paper/tissue. Your process reliability increases as the system works very evenly.

Finding new sales arguments through fragrances and care substances?

Tissue manufacturers are facing ever-increasing consumer demands. Unique cosmetic tissues, toilet paper or napkins are supposed to offer the “more” to differentiate themselves from competing products through smoother skin feel, pleasant fragrance or even caring features. But this also creates opportunities for new or stronger positioning in the market, without great expense. Thanks to precise fluid application, WEKO offers efficient solution concepts for your individual tissue (sanitary paper)!

How can the embossing process be optimized?

The multi-layer tissue is created by combining several layers during embossing. Water is a booster for this layer bonding process and even enables bonding without additional knurling. This creates flexibility in the embossing design and saves costs. In addition, the volume is increased as the fibers swell and the contact pressure during embossing can be reduced.

Can the print quality of tissue products be increased?

By spraying on a defined amount of water before printing, the tissue is prepared for better ink absorption and at the same time the fibers become softer and more flexible. The water further increases the layer adhesion before the printing and embossing processes. The better layer adhesion and more flexible, more receptive fibers result in a sharper contour and more brilliant print as well as a higher quality embossing. This allows you to take your design to a new level.

How does the tissue obtain the desired volume?

Embossing pressure and high temperatures change the cellulose fibers and thus the volume of fabrics. Targeted moistening causes the fibers to swell and the desired volume is achieved. In addition, the higher volume gives a softer touch and the fibers become more flexible. Due to the improved flexibility, the embossing pressure can be significantly reduced, which also protects the material and enables more final volume.
