Can strong ply adhesion and soft handle be combined?

In ply splicing with WEKO, the individual paper plies are glued together with a defined small amount of fluid glue. The combination of several layers during embossing forms the multilayer hygiene paper towel. Water-based glue is suitable for WEKO’s rotor spray application. Its finely dispersed micro-droplets spread evenly and work perfectly on sensitive surfaces without stressing the material.

Water bonding is a booster for the ply bonding process. With three or more layers, bonding is possible without additional knurling. This makes the embossing design very flexible and cost-saving, as no additional knurling tool is required. Spraying on a defined amount of water massively improves layer adhesion, as the water increases the penetration of the previously applied adhesive in each individual layer. The swelling properties of the fibers also enable improvements to the paper / tissue in terms of dimension, bulkiness and volume. Your process reliability increases as the system works very continuously.

Finding new sales arguments through fragrances and care substances?

Tissue manufacturers are facing ever-increasing consumer demands. Unique cosmetic tissues, toilet paper or napkins are supposed to offer the “more” to differentiate themselves from competing products through smoother skin feel, pleasant fragrance or even caring features. But this also creates opportunities for new or stronger positioning in the market, without great expense. Thanks to precise fluid application, WEKO offers efficient solution concepts for your individual tissue (sanitary paper)!

How can the embossing process be optimized?

Combining several plies during embossing creates the multilayer tissue. Water is a booster for this ply bonding process and even enables bonding without additional knurling. This creates flexibility in embossing design and saves costs.

Can the print quality of tissue products be increased?

Spraying on a defined amount of water massively improves layer adhesion, as the water increases the penetration of the previously applied adhesive in each individual layer. This improved layer adhesion makes prints significantly sharper in contour and more accurate. You can take your design to a new level as a result.

How does the tissue obtain the desired volume?

Mechanical stress and high temperatures during drying processes change the cellulose fibers and thus the volume of tissues. Moisture is regulated by targeted pre-moistening and re-moistening, and the swelling features of the fibers give the tissue the desired volume.
